convert Publisher to InDesign

I tried to see if this has been discussed before and didn't find anything. A client created a 16 page brochure in Publisher and I converted it to a pdf but the color changed when my printing company did a proof. Does anyone know an economical way to convert this file into InDesign where we would have more control? It is too complex to recreate.

This article might help, but I've looked into this before, and there's no "good" answer.

Re: convert Publisher to InDesign

I'm new in this business, so I'm not sure if this will help.

I down loaded a little free program called CUTE PDF WRITER from http://download.cnet.com

I can make a design file in publisher and use this little program to convert this file
to an Adobe PDF.

I send these files to my embroiderer and he seems to be able to digitize OK.

Re: convert Publisher to InDesign

I looked into the previous threads and the info is from 2007. Pagemaker isn't around anymore that I know of and the demo version of Markzware Pub2ID is not available now. I really didn't want to spend $200 for Pub2ID because it also would require upgrading from Adobe Creative Suites CS2 to CS4 for $800 since it only works on CS3 or CS4.

I originally was able to create a pdf file from Publisher but that is where the color changed and the reason why I am looking for options.

Thanks for your replies! This happens to be one of my best clients and I need to figure this out by the end of the week so if anyone else knows an option, please let me know. I may have to resort to re-creating it in InDesign but they put in some "creative" touches that are probably going to be a stretch for me to duplicate.

Re: convert Publisher to InDesign

Send it to a printer that can work from Publisher files......Microsoft has a whole system setup for them....They give the printers free software and support so they can print from clients files.....Look in to "Pack and Go".....

Smile Re: convert Publisher to InDesign

I bought what I needed and got the brochure done. It works! It is now an InDesign file - yeah! It did take some re-working but not nearly as much as starting from scratch. If anyone needs help with Publisher files in the future, feel free to contact me.
